Supplement Support [How do we get it? Why do we need it?]
All we need is fruit and vegetables?
As kids, we all knew that the body needed vitamins to make us grow up to be strong. Why?.......Well thats what our parents told us. "Make sure you eat all your vegetables!" "Did you eat your fruit at school today?" In general that used to be the extent of my knowledge about nutrition. Eat some meat (lamb), have some vegetables [the stock standard, carrots, potatoes and maybe beans) and I would be good to go.
I grew up in Australia but I was born in Indonesia. I have lived here all my life since I was 4 years old. As well as the above foods, I had a lot of Nasi Goreng and noodles of different types. Then I start ahdulting and life got busy and my metabolism changed. I didnt eat much as a kid and I was always active so I was a pretty thin kid in my teens. I ate whatever I wanted so it wasn't such a problem, until my 40's!
This was when I started running and got my body in a better state. The things that I have learnt is mind blowing. It is a bit of a minefield out there because there is so much information and so many different types of supplements out in the market.
Why do we need supplements at all?
There is now increasing evidence that the during the past few decades, the nutrient value of foods have now been in decline. This has a lot to do with how society has valued its food. With the increased demand for foods worldwide there is more and more evidence that over farming practices has caused foods to be less dense in nutrients than 50 years ago.
Wheat grown over 100 years ago has twice as much protein as varieties grown today. This is why organic foods and locally produced products are the first option when trying to source ingredients. In this day and age, it is not always possible or convenient for people to be in a position to have this option. For whatever reason, life is busy and people are now wanting quick and efficient access to food and nutrients.
The hardest thing is for people to get started to leading a healthy and well balanced life is to get started. There are many arguments to support whether people actually need supplements if they are already fit and healthy. The fact of the matter is that the supplement industry is growing exponentially every year,
"According to Fortune Business Insights the supplements industry was worth 48.22 billion in 2019 and is projected to reach USD 117.92 billion by 2027. Our aim as a brand is to make it easy for people to get started from a support point of view and for performance as well. "
we just want people to make a start and give the ability for people to be supported in their health journey. It doesn't matter where you are in life or what you have done, if you know that you need to get healthy, we want to make it easy for the next step and then the steps after that.
